Why Drive Electric

The Benefits to Drivers

EVs are cheaper to own than a comparable gasoline only vehicle. Why?
1. There are big savings offered from many federal, state, and other incentives.
2. Electricity is cheaper than gasoline. On average, drivers fuel costs are more than halved when they switch to EVs. Keep your routine and save big!
3. EVs need far less maintenance (saving you time, with less visits to the auto shop).

Curious how much you might save by driving an EV? Take 2 minutes and let the DrivE & SaVe Wizard calculate this for you.

EVs have higher average long-term reliability. Why?
1. EVs have lower maintenance needs and fewer things that can mechanically wear out or fail.
2. Electric cars have “regenerative brakes”, so the brake pads and rotors don’t wear as quickly, and may even last the life of the vehicle with little or no maintenance.

You charge an electric car like a cell phone — overnight, while you sleep. It’s sort of like having a gas pump in your garage, but without the mess. With an electric car you wake up back on “Full” and always ready to drive.

All you need to get started is the adapter your EV usually comes with, and a standard outlet (the same you’d use for your phone!) in your garage or on the side of your house near a driveway. If you don’t have this, or do, but want to charge faster, you can also install a “Level 2” system (learn more from our Charging Guide!).

Most EVs have better handling and ride than their gasoline-powered cousins. Why?
1. Superior weight distribution and low center of gravity- A driving experience that hugs the corners!
2. Cars with electric motors start up with more “torque” (or tire-turning rotational force) than those without one.
3. An extra bonus? Reduced cabin noise and less vibration!
